From 18 to 23 May 2026, the Union of Architectural Workers guest-hosted the Parlour Instagram account. Parlour is the Australian research and advocacy organisation for gender equity in architecture, and the publisher of the Parlour surveys on pay, workloads, and conditions that we cite across this site.

Across the week we talked about what the union is for: better pay, real hours, and the conditions architectural workers are owed, and how organising and the Architects Award fit together. The posts drew over 3,000 likes between them, from architects and built-environment workers around the country.

Equity in architecture is not only about who gets through the door. It is also about what people are paid, and how they are treated once they are in the room. That is work we share with Parlour.

A big thanks to Parlour for having us. You can find them at parlour.org.au and on Instagram at @_parlour.
